  • Dragon Naturally Speaking- Located in rooms 006, 007 lower level of Van Wagenen library.

    Dragon Naturally Speaking is a speech recognition program that allows you to dictate your words into the computer and have them accurately appear in Microsoft Word, Excel and other window based applications. With this program you can quickly create letters, reports, e-mails and dictate, edit and control applications all by voice.


  • Premier Scan/Read Program- Scanners available in rooms 006, 007 lower level of Van Wagenen Library, Warner & Curtis Mott. All of these programs are easy to learn and will help you become an independent learner.


    • Universal Reader Plus, will scan and read your documents. This application is used in conjunction with scanning equipment. It will scan and read almost any document to you.


    • Universal Reader is installed on all campus owned computers. This program is a very easy utility that reads virtually any application.


    • E-Test reader is an application that lets you easily read electronic text using built-in digital voices. This application is free upon request or by going to www.readingmadeeasy.com.
    • PDF Equalizer is an application that lets you read PDF files using built-in digital voices.


  • Inspiration- Located in rooms 006, 007, lower level of Van Wagenen Library.

    Inspiration is a writing and graphic organizing program that assists students in organizing their written thoughts and also creates concept maps or webs to help organize notes. It is especially helpful for students who are visual learners.


  • Training for Dragon Dictation, Premier, and/or Inspiration- Contact Kyla Titus in the DisAbility Support Services Office, located in the Van Wagenen Library.

  • Other Technology- We loan out tape recorders, kitchen calculators, spell masters, graphing calculators and Alpha Smarts- (word processors which can be used to take notes in the classroom or assist with other written assignments. These machines have the capacity to upload the information to your computer.)


  • Adaptive technology workstation- Located on main floor of Van Wagenen Library and in Warner Hall, room 23. The library has a CCTV that will enlarge printed material for people who have low vision. The workstation also has Dragon and Zoomtext, an enlargement program. The Library also has a hand-held magnifier, reading pens, and Premier Accessibility Tools.
