Potential Tutors

Are you interested in being a tutor?

  • All tutors must have completed ENGL 101 with an A or a high B. (A second composition class is preferable.)
  • Tutors must have two letters of recommendation (or e-mails will do) from faculty members to attach to the completed application form. One must be from a Composition faculty member.
  • All tutors share an interest in working with others and developing their own writing skills.
  • Many tutors take ENGL 205: Writing Theory and Practice (2 credits), which provides training and supervision during tutoring.
  • Tutors must take responsibility to work independently on projects related to the Writing Center.
  • Tutors are expected to act professionally, to support the mission of the faculty, and support one another in their work.
