International Club
|
The International Club is an educational and social organization that assists students to learn and appreciate various ethnic cultures through travel, speakers, dinners, films, etc. The Club has been very active this semester participating in Showcase Weekend with Japanese calligraphy and SUNY Cobleskill chocolate emblems. We held a picnic and movie night at the Ski Lodge and enjoyed a joint dinner with the Cobleskill Richmondville High School International Club. We traveled to the Gandhi Restaurant in Albany for delicious Indian cuisine and picked apples at the Terrace Mountain Apple Orchard. The Club provided financial assistance for a member to attend "A Taste of New Orleans" in support of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Future events include a movie night, trip to Woodbury Mall, International Dinner for the College Community, snow tubing and a trip to Montreal in the spring. |

The two clubs and the four students who were chosen for this month's recognition showed exceptional leadership with the Taste of New Orleans event on October 1st. Geri-Ann Mastromarino and Jeff Potter coordinated the efforts of the Culinary, Hospitality and Tourism Club (CHAT), and Mike Justin and Danielle Daniels lead efforts of the Student Pastry Arts Club (SPAC). Mike Justin was also in charge of the mocktail bar. The overall presentation and quality of the food was outstanding. The event raised over $5000 that will go towards the American Red Cross' relief efforts. These students and their peers from the two clubs are to be commended for their outstanding achievements. |
