Agricultural Engineering Club This club offers any campus student an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities from personal development to community service. Topics associated with agricultural engineering or manufacturing are often presented in meetings by industry representatives or via films or videos. Industry contacts are encouraged and generally occur through industry inspecti\on field trips. Community service projects are also completed as club activities. The purpose of this club is to service the agronomic campus farm, to supply the food pantries for the community with agronomic supplies and to organize workshops of agronomic techniques to the campus community. They also work to support and educate student s on sustainability of the environment, agriculture and diversity. American Animal Producers Club The club offers students the opportunity to work with the college owned livestock in preparing the animals for various types of performances. The club sponsors many activities and events throughout the year. Some are: The Northeast Horseman's Clinic, Livestock Fitting, The Livestock Jamboree, Canine Police Training, and The Annual Livestock Project. Each year the club also is very proud to own registered Hampshire sheep. This club is for anyone who has an interest in animals. American Culinary Federation, Jr. Chapter The purpose of this club is to gain a better understanding of the profession, to keep current with industry standards, to engage in stimulating discussions concerning future trends within the industry, and to promote a spirit of courteous consideration and cooperation within the profession. American Fisheries Society We are a Student Sub-Unit of the American Fisheries Society (AFS). Our goals are to provide members with the opportunity to exchange experiences students have had by completing their internships/jobs and provide professionals the opportunity to share with us what they are doing in fisheries and aquaculture occupations. The AFS Student Sub-Unit welcomes anyone who has a passion for fish. Anime Club The purpose of this club is to unify the students who have an interest in Japanese animation (aka anime), to help people with the latest news on anime in America, and to help make new friends with people who have the same interest in anime. Associated Landscaping Contractors of America The purpose is to link Cobleskill landscape students with the national industry and to provide them with an understanding of the full spectrum of landscape opportunities. Membership is open to all students in the associate or bachelor of technology programs who have an interest in landscaping. BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) BASIC is an organization whose purpose is to facilitate Christian fellowship on the Cobleskill College Campus. Culinary, Hospitality and Tourism CHAT is a club that focuses on learning more about the professions of Hospitality and Tourism. Coby Buddy The purpose of the Coby Buddy Club is to enrich the lives of the youths of the community through a buddy system. College Choir The College Choir is a select group of singers who perform a variety of music both on and off campus. In the spring they tour numerous high schools, recruiting potential students for Cobleskill. Commuter Student Association The purpose of this organization is to support, advise, mentor and more effectively communicate with the commuter students. The club provides the commuter students the opportunity to address common concerns. Council for Student Activities The purpose of this club is to provide social, cultural, and educational opportunities for all members of the college community and to provide students with experience in group planning and leadership as well as social and educational contacts. Specific responsibilities of CSA include sponsoring major weekends and concerts, selection of movies and speakers, special events, and presenting programs involving music, theater, and dance. Trips, club sponsored contests, and a consignment sale of registered cattle are just some of the activities. It is a welcomed attraction to animal science, dairy, and other majors continuing their education here at Cobleskill. This club is open to any person, from any major interested in cattle. Early Childhood Association The Early Childhood Association is open to any student interested in the education and welfare of young children. The purpose of the association is to raise money for community programs serving children; to provide special programs for community children; and to provide information to the public regarding the needs and rights of children. Forestry Club This club shall support the Woodsmen Team at various Intercollegiate competitions and public demonstrations. It will strive to be at the service of the College and local community while practicing safe and efficient use of its own tools and educating others in such use. They will practice good resource management. Gay, Lesbians and Friends Alliance The goal of GLFA is to allow persons of different sexual orientation to obtain support from their peers, and to promote acceptance and educate the campus community about the diversity of those who live here. Ice Carving Club The objectives of this club are to gain a better understanding of professional and practical requirements of an entrepreneurship; including some aspects of Garde Manger. Also, the club aims to stimulate discussions concerning the future of the culinary arts industry among students, staff, faculty, and the business community. The purpose of the International Club is to educate students about the various international and ethnic groups on campus, to provide social programs for students focusing on international activities, and to celebrate the diversity among students. This goal is achieved through meetings, field trips, dinners, discussions, and speakers, all of which are designed to showcase cultural contributions. Jazz Ensemble A stage band ensemble made up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones and rhythm instruments performing works from the traditions of Glenn Miller and Count Basie to current jazz and jazz-rock big band styles. Medical Career Club The purpose of Medical Career Club shall be to educate and provide support to those who wish to pursue a career in the medical work force and its related subsidiaries and also to provide a community service to an organization related to medicine. Orange Key Society Orange Key Society is a selected group of men and women students who are committed to leadership service to the college community. Orange Key members serve as representatives, hosts, and hostesses at registration, college visitations and other special events. Outing Club People interested in having fun in the great outdoors join this club to organize and develop exciting and educational experiences. A great deal of time is spent in planning a comprehensive array of outings such as: backpack trips, mountain climbs, overnight camp outs, horseback rides, ropes courses, and white water rafting. Paintball Club The purpose of the Paintball clubs is to educate people of the rules and regulations of paintball, to teach the importance of safety when it comes to paintball and to promote paintball as a safe and entertaining game. Phi Theta Kappa Lambda Gamma is Cobleskill's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the only internationally recognized honor fraternity for two year junior colleges. Entrance requirement to this service organization is a 3.5 cumulative average and 12 credit hours. P.T.K. sponsors many social and educational programs on campus and is active on state and national levels. Photo Club The photography club provides opportunities for novice and experienced photographers to express their artistic abilities through the lens of a camera. Our goal is to teach our members the principles of photography. Training is offered in the use of digital cameras and printers, portable studio equipment, and framing and mounting of finished prints. The club furnishes work for the campus yearbook and the public relations department. Students are also encouraged to work on their own portfolio for campus art exhibits. Plant Science Club The purpose of this club is to give experience and knowledge of the horticulture field to the college campus. They also provide services to the community and campus association. Membership is open to the entire student body and faculty. Post-Secondary Agricultural Student The purpose of this club is to provide opportunities for members to develop the skills and abilities needed to enter and advance in an agricultural related career. PAS helps to develop leadership, management abilities, citizenship, and patriotism into each member. Pre-Veterinary Club The purpose of the Pre-Veterinary Club is to promote the interest and education in the animal science field with a concentration on a career in veterinary medicine, to encourage academic excellence and to support a sense of harmony among its members. They also aid in the care of animals at surrounding animal maintenance facilities and work to become familiar with the veterinary office atmosphere. RA Activities Council It is the purpose of the RA Council to provide an outlet for Residence assistance, financial support for programming and educational opportunities, to create a forum for discussion for residence hall programs, to support and provide citizenship opportunities, and to offer opportunities for camaraderie among Residential Life staff. Ropes Challenge Course Club The purpose of the Ropes Challenge Course Club is to learn more about and participate in common low and high rope challenges, learn how to properly facilitate ropes course activities, practice proper high and low ropes safety and rescue techniques, and to explore other ropes courses in the area. Ski Lodge Activities Club This club's primary goal is to sponsor and promote events and activities at our recreation lodge. They have sponsored dances, concerts and skiing events. Snowboard and Ski Club This club helps promote the excitement of snowboarding and skiing to those who wish to join, be it experienced or first time snowboarders and skiers. The club will allow friendships to be formed under the common interest of snowboarding and skiing. Social Action Club The purpose of the Social Action Club is to promote social awareness in the student body, to stimulate thinking and discussion in the social sciences, and to facilitate career opportunities after transfer, community service fundraising and a speaker's forum. Student Alumni Chapter This club's purpose is to promote and cultivate communication and fellowship between the students and the alumni of the College, and to maintain and foster the loyalty of its students and alumni, while assisting in promoting the interests of the College. Student Community Service Club The Community Service Club coordinates student volunteer activities and works to integrate volunteerism both on- and off-campus. Student Horsemen's Association SHA is an active organization, whose goal is the enlightenment in all phases of good horsemanship practices. Both business and general meetings are held monthly consisting of discussions, guest lecturers, and movies. The association is the proud owner of two purebred Arabian geldings, which constitute a part of our practical education program. The organization takes part in social events, including college weekends, events, planning parties and get-togethers for the School of Agricultural and Natural Resources . Student Pastry Arts Club This club's aim is to broaden student's activities and interests in the college and local community with campus and community fundraisers and get-togethers. They work to provide students with opportunities to explore the world of pastry arts. Learn the traditional form of Korean Karate in a non-contact format. The club is affiliated nationally with other college clubs through the World Tae Kwon Do Association. The association provides biannual tournament competitions and belt certifications under Grandmaster Duk Sun Son, one of the original Korean masters to bring the art to the United States. The club practices 2-3 times a week and is open to all students. Since instruction is self paced, students can join at any time. The Wildlife Society It is the goal of the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society to provide opportunities for improved communication among individuals locally and with other student chapters, augment fish, wildlife, and natural resource educational opportunities, prepare members for careers, to encourage professionalism and high standards, and to promote a broader understanding of fish, wildlife, and natural resources to the campus and surrounding communities. Tiger Talk Media The purpose of Tiger Talk Media is to act as an organization to provide a means of communicating to the community and student body at large and to entertain, persuade, and inform the student body of events on and around SUNY Cobleskill. Turf Club The purpose of this chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America is to serve as an official organization for students interested in golf course management, to provide them with information about career directions and the credentials needed to become a golf course superintendent, to promote and advance the profession and enrich the quality of golf and its environment, and to provide an avenue for an exchange of information and ideas between student and golf course professionals in their geographical area. Upstaged! Drama Club The purpose of Drama Club is to give the student body an experience in all phases of theater production and to provide an opportunity for recreational enjoyment as well as an appreciation of the fine arts. Wrestling Club To provide a venue that supports the interest and desire to watch, learn about, and participate in wrestling activities. Xpressions of Kolor Xpressions of Kolor is a multi-cultural performance group. This organization is open to all students; including both men and women who are interested in demonstrating cooperation between racial and ethnic groups through dramatic performance such as dance, theater, poetry and music.
