International students come to SUNY Cobleskill from many different parts of the world. A number of these students come to SUNY Cobleskill through a transfer agreement with Human International University, Japan (HIUJ). In order to transfer to SUNY Cobleskill under this agreement, HIUJ students must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum TOEFL score of 450 or computer TOEFL score of 133
- A minimum HIUJ gpa of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
- A minimum of one academic year in an ESL or general studies program at HIUJ (SUNY Cobleskill agrees to consider the applicants having spent less time at HIUJ, provided that the candidate has successfully proven eligible on the other requirements and that the candidate has a strong recommendation from an HIUJ program director).
- Two letters of recommendation (at least one must be from HIUJ)
- Proof of financial support to complete the Education Program (degree) to be applied for
* The HIUJ students who do not currently satisfy any one of the above but are recommended as having a potential to be admitted to the Education Program (degree) may also be admitted to SUNY Cobleskill depending on their ability, judged by SUNY Cobleskill, or they may also be admitted on the condition that they are required to enter an ESL, Advanced ESL or Development Studies programs as SUNY Cobleskill requires. Upon the completion of the required coursework, the students shall be admitted into the major.
