ancient civilizations.
There are many ethnic groups, languages, and natural treasures.
China has the second largest economy in the world. Agriculture is a major contributor of this economy.
Visit China to find out how and why! See the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi and Nanjing.
Why Tour China ?
- How can China 's land provide food for so many people?
- What do Chinese agricultural people do differently?
- How can the US farmers learn from their Chinese counterparts?
- How can the US farmers produce agricultural products that the Chinese consumers would reach across the ocean to purchase?
These are just a few questions that come to one's mind when one compares the population and land area of China to those of the US .
China's population growth and economic development created tremendous pressure on its agriculture, natural resources and environment – Food, fuel, timber, and other resources are in short supply. How is China dealing with this issue and other problems such as soil erosion and loss of biodiversity. How does China's environmental problem affect the environment of the US and the World?
This tour will provide students opportunities to
- Visit agricultural production sites in eastern China including areas in and around Shanghai
- Visit agricultural colleges and universities in China and meet with Chinese students and professors
- Visit typical ecosystems, scenic landscapes and sites of cultural interest
- Participate in lectures with Chinese students
- Live in student housing with Chinese students
- Experience festivals and special events with Chinese faculty, students, and families
- Engage in study projects with Chinese students
