TechSupport and the ITS Help Center

The ITS Help Center, located in Warner Hall 023, is a unified concept to accomplish a "one-stop" approach to providing support for computing problems and assistance with computing needs.  In 2001, ITS adopted the  Student Technology Services (STS), which utilizes students at the Help Center assisting technicians with computer related issues.  Currently, Help Center services include:

  • Computer access, including a disability workstation
  • Assistance with Campus Standard Software, including Windows XP/2000, Microsoft Office Professional 2003/XP/2000 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher); FrontPage; E-mail services (MS Outlook 2003/XP/2000)
  • Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) software distribution
  • Network printing assistance
  • Blackboard login assistance
  • McAfee Enterprise AntiVirus installation and virus cleanup assistance
  • File backup
  • Scanning
  • CD Burning
  • Residence Hall Network Login assistance
  • Basic referral service

All computers and/or peripherals purchased at the Bookstore should be taken to the Bookstore Service Center in Bouck Hall for service.

ITS does not provide hardware technical support or service for student-owned computers.  Many times a warranty agreement will be voided by unauthorized service.  Contact the company where purchase was made for  authorized service providers and hardware support.  

TechSupport The TechSupport database is a web interface which allows calls to be logged on a chronological basis.  This database creates an online work list for ITS technicians.  ITS Technicians respond to calls in a timely and orderly manner following established ITS Trouble Calls Prioritization.   Besides computer trouble calls, audiovisual, cable TV, telephone and residence hall  network login trouble calls can be logged to the TechSupport database.  The database is updated by ITS staff noting the disposition of the call.  Calls that are awaiting repair parts or other activity are listed as pending. 

To log trouble calls or view cases on TechSupport:  Users are encouraged to log their own calls directly to the TechSupport database. 

  1. From the SUNY Cobleskill homepage, click on the Tech Support link (under Resources) at the bottom of the page
  2. From Faculty/Staff at the top of the SUNY Cobleskill homepage
  3. Go directly to the TechSupport URL at the bottom of the page or enter the following web address from any browser:  http://sharepoint/techsupport/
  • You will be prompted to authenticate by entering coby2\YourNetworkAccountUsername and your network password.  
  • Click on Report a Problem and fill in the form. 
  • Click the Submit Report button to post your request for service. 
  • Users are also able to view and track cases by clicking on My Cases.

Information Technology Services is responsible for the maintenance of State-owned computers and the campus infrastructure. ITS maintains connectivity to the network connection (port) in residence halls.  Important: All ITS Technicians will carry a valid ID when working in residence halls.
