SUNY Cobleskill

Off-Campus Students

If you live off-campus or need access from an off-campus location:

  • You will need to establish an account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in order to connect to the Internet.  Once this has been established, off-campus users can gain access to most network services.

  • Some network resources requires a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connect for remote access.  See the Knowledge Base article, Setup COBY VPN connection for Windows XP/2000 for assistance.

Reading e-mail from home:  All users with authorized SUNY Cobleskill accounts may check their e-mail without being on campus.

  • Use your ISP account to establish an Internet connection
  • Open your Web browser (for best results, use Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher)
  • Go to the SUNY Cobleskill home page at  http://www.cobleskill.edu
  • Click on Web Based E-mail Client at the bottom of the page
  • Click on Logon to your e-mail account
  • Enter Coby2\YourNetworkAccountUserName and your network password

Network Connections for personal computers across campus:  There are network connections and limited wireless connections across campus for commuter student use.  See Campus Technology Locations
