Position
- Term appointment to begin September 2006. This is a calendar year (twelve-month) professional appointment . The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Facilities Management.
Responsibilities

The Assistant Director is responsible for leadership, planning, and day-to-day operation of the physical plant, which includes maintenance and custodial. Responsibilities include; supervision and evaluation of classified staff, maintaining compliance with collective bargaining agreements, budget planning, and budget management. Operations include maintenance; energy conservation; custodial services; building structure repairs and renovations, fire safety code compliance; staff training and consultation with Director of Facilities Management regarding campus projects. The Assistant Director of Facilities Management is expected to participate in appropriate campus-wide responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree required in relevant field; Bachelor's degree preferred. Three years of responsible supervisory experience in physical plant operations, with knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment in building, mechanical, electrical trades, and personnel supervision, is desired. Experience with energy services and energy management systems is expected. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to effective supervision and management of employees and the ability to interact effectively with members of all campus constituencies. The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, listening skills, computer skills, and human relations skills.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary negotiable, depending upon training and experience. Fringe benefits with the State University of New York are excellent.
