Our goal for children as learners is that they become autonomous, self-directed individuals with a strong sense of self worth and an "I can do it" attitude. Such a child views learning as exciting and challenging. With this emphasis children become problem seekers as well as problem solvers. The
Cobleskill Campus Child Care Center strives to provide an environment for each child which facilitates the development of:
- the capacity to trust people; to feel secure when away from home and with people other than family members;
- enjoyment of other people both children and adults
- a curiosity about the world; the ability to take pleasure in learning and exploring
- the ability to comprehend language and events, and to express oneself effectively and appropriately.
- a sense of social community in which human diversity and individual differences can be prized and nourished.
- specific skills that are appropriate to the child's developmental level
- expressive skills in a variety of media including music, art, and movement.
