Pre-Medicine and Pre-Optometry

Early-Assurance Physician Program

This is an exciting, early decision program unique to SUNY Cobleskill.

Students should have a score of 1200 on their SAT's (or ACT-equivalent), a 90 or above high school average, and maintain a 3.5 cumululative and science-specific average. At the end of the first year at SUNY Cobleskill, students who meet these criteria are eligible to interview for dual acceptance at a participating four-year, upper division college (Siena College or Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) and Upstate Medical College. If accepted, students are guaranteed acceptance into Upstate Medicall College and will not be required to take the MCAT's (Medical College Admission test), providing they maintain their 3.5 cumulative average.

Students are expected to shadow a physician several times during their academic career and perform 40 hours of volunteer service in a related discipline. Students from rural areas and who will enhance the diversity of physician populations are especially encouraged to apply.

Other excellent options exist for traditional pre-medicine paths. For example, we have an excellent articulation agreement with Siena College.
